Richmond College - What We Do

The University of Richmond is
committed to providing an educational environment conducive to the development
of the whole person - intellectually, socially, physically, and morally.
The Richmond College Dean's Office exists to encourage Richmond College
students, in particular, to seek the development of their whole persons.
The Dean's Office staff contends that students will be more willing to
participate in developmental experiences if their environment has an attractive
variety of challenging opportunities readily available and if the environment is
supportive of their involvement. In general, the staff devotes its energy
toward the creation of an environment that will be conducive to student growth,
fostering feelings of community both within the college and within subsets of
the college, teaching and upholding the standards by which the community lives,
developing leadership skills in interested students, and facilitating the
transition of students on graduation to their next goal.
Richmond College's "Eight
Guiding Principles to Student Persistence and Satisfaction" are:
-
An attachment to a positive
and meaningful peer group.
-
A significant interaction
with faculty members (both in quality and quantity).
-

development and major course of study.
-
A challenging and
stimulating academic program.
-
An adequate preparation for
college.
-
A compatibility between
student expectations and University actualities.
-
A positive use of campus facilities and high involvement in campus activities.
-
A positive self-concept.
