Richmond College Dean's Office Objectives
Through structured programs and individual actions, the Richmond College
Dean's Office staff:
- orients new students to the college and to the University.
- presents programs that cause men to reflect on what it means to be a male
in today's world.
- promotes outstanding academic achievement by all students within the
college and recognizes the students who excel.
- supports those students who are encountering academic difficulty.
- prepares the residence life student staff so that they will be able to
create residential environments in which their residents can achieve their
educational objectives.
- creates in each residence hall and the apartment complex an environment
that invites resident involvement, fosters community, and that is conducive to
student growth.
- extends the classroom to the residential setting through faculty
involvement and educational programming.
- expects students to live by the standards of conduct established by the
University community and holds accountable students found to be responsible
for not meeting these standards.
- assesses substance abuse by resident students, develops and implements
efforts to address such issues, and evaluates University policy, regulations,
and processes in this area.
- supports students who are concerned about significant personal health
issues.
- responds to crisis situations experienced by students and seeks to resolve
such situations in a manner that respects both the needs of the individual and
the larger community.
- encourages students to enhance their organization and leadership skills
through programs and practical experience.
- promotes quality student governance by providing advisors to the Richmond
College Student Government Association Class Cabinets and Senate, the
Richmond College Honor Council, the Richmond College Judicial Council, and the
Residence Hall Association.
- solicits student recommendations for the improvement of the student
experience at the University.
- develops proposals and implements programs that will respond to the
interests and needs of today's students and will result in a better growth
experience for our students.
- nurtures traditions viewed as meaningful by today's students.
- assists parents in understanding the University environment and the impact
that it has on their sons.
- bridges the gap between the University of Richmond Alumni Association and the
Richmond College students of today.
