Task-Oriented Exercise


 

Situation 1

You have been asked to write a news article (for the National Enquirer) and summarize the incidents that occurred in 
Goldilocks and the Three Bears (“Boucles d’or et les trois ours”) as if it were a true story. Use your imagination freely. 
 
 


Tasks

     1.   WHO and HOW MANY? Begin your story with a “grabbing” headline and opening sentence and introduce the main
            characters in this “incident.”

            Phrases:   Writing a news item; Describing people
            Grammar:   Nouns after c’est, il est; Adjective Agreement; Adjective position
            Vocabulary:    Body; Animals; Hair colors; Clothing; Family members

     2.   WHERE and WHEN?  Describe the location where this “incident” takes place.

            Phrases:   Describing objects
           Vocabulary: House; Direction and distance

     3.   WHY?  Why did the bears leave their house? What did they do?

            Phrases:   Sequencing events
            Grammar:   Compound Tenses; Compound Past Tense: Passé composé; Verbs with auxiliary être;
                                Agreement of past participle

      4.   WHAT?  What did the little girl do in the living room? in the kitchen? in the bedroom?

            Phrases:   Sequencing events
            Vocabulary: Living room; Bedroom; Kitchen; Food; Furniture; Quantity
            Grammar:   Numbers for building floors; Partitive du, de la, des; Reflexive pronouns me, te, se, nous, vous

       5.   WHAT?  What happened when the bears came back home?

      6.   Write a moral to this story [a moral = une morale].


This composition is due to be handed in on Thursday, March 5, 1998, at the beginning of the class period.
There are no  exceptions.
